Ray has extensive turnaround management, financial and marketing experience. His expertise stems from years of corporate consulting, specialized in project management and turnaround mandates, spanning the regions of North America, Europe and the Middle East.
Throughout his career, Ray has set up several successful marketing campaigns, facilitated mergers and acquisitions, and held several interim executive positions. Prior to his consulting career, he worked at the Bank of Montreal for 10 years where he held senior positions including Bank Manager. His functions included commercial lending, personal finance, mortgages and public speaking.
Ever since becoming Above Security’s President and CEO in 2010, it has been Ray’s mission to make Above Security a truly global IT security service provider. His unparalleled commitment to the organization and its employees, his business sense and his strong focus on customer relations and service excellence have cumulated in Above Security’s acquisition by Hitachi Systems Ltd. in October 2015. “We are delighted to have become part of the Hitachi family. Aside from dedicating his time between his business endeavors and his family, Ray also spends a great deal of time volunteering as a coach in various sports: hockey, baseball, football, etc. “Our children are our greatest resource of the future, and team sports help them to grow and become tomorrow’s leaders” he says.
As Executive Vice President and Director of the Board since January 2016, Akira Kusakabe’s mandate is to align Above Security and Hitachi Systems goals and objectives, oversee business development efforts with Hitachi Group companies and assist Above Security’s sales and marketing organizations.
Akira joined Hitachi Ltd. in 1983 and has since accumulated over 30 years of experience in corporate management, sales and marketing, information and communication technology. He has contributed to the growth of Hitachi America, Ltd., Hitachi Mexico, and acted as CEO of South America at Hitachi Brazil for the Hitachi Group of Companies.
As Chief Financial Officer, Kenji Kuroki is responsible for overseeing Above Security’s global finance and treasury-related activities, and ensuring alignment with Hitachi Systems Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd.
Kenji joined Hitachi Ltd. in 1988 and has since accumulated over 25 years of experience in international finance and accounting, cash management and treasury. Throughout his career, he has held several senior management positions within Hitachi Ltd. and Hitachi America Capital, Ltd., supervising a wide array of finance and accounting activities, including business strategy, budget planning, financial reporting, tax filing, control and procurement, payroll and funding.
Daniel has acquired over 25 years of experience in the IT industry. He has been involved with Above Security since 2004 and now acts as Chief Operating Officer, overseeing all managed security and professional service operations as well as IT and governance.
During his career, he has received several information security industry certifications such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, PCI QSA and ISO 27001 LA. Prior to this, he mainly occupied management positions in either software firms or consulting companies.
Daniel is an experienced leader who adheres to the new school of management with its emphasis on empowerment and coaching. He worked for the MEI Group in different management roles as well as for Correctional Services Canada as Regional Chief of Information Technology.
As the Senior Vice President, Global Sales, Patrick is responsible for global sales strategy, plan development and execution. Patrick leads the regional sales teams, technical engineering team and sales operations team fueling the growth of Above Security. Patrick also provides general management of Above Security’s US Operations, as its Managing Director.
Patrick comes to Above Security with over 20 years of experience in organizing and leading strategy across broad disciplines. He has led international market expansion initiatives for several organizations, having directly overseen all aspects of marketing, sales, client management, operations, and IT. Patrick also holds certifications as a SABSA Enterprise Security Architect and a PCI-DSS Qualified Security Assessor. Prior to Above Security, Patrick was Managing Director for Seccuris, and Senior Vice President and CIO for IC Group. He also held senior management positions with MTS Allstream and IBM.
As SVP of Marketing, Fadi Albatal is responsible for building a world-class marketing and product management organization to support Above Security’s global operations and goals. He is responsible for bringing Above Security services to new markets and establishing a stronger presence globally.
Prior to joining Above Security, Albatal was the Founder and CEO of Bimand where he led a team of talented engineers to transform the consumer TV experience. Albatal also served as the VP of Marketing at FalconStor where he oversaw both global marketing and product management. Prior to FalconStor, he was part of the marketing team at EqualLogic where he led the company’s strategic alliance and go-to-market strategy with Microsoft. EqualLogic was acquired by Dell in 2008 for $1.4B.
Throughout his career Albatal held several management positions in the IT industry and co-founded Langu-edge Solutions, a language services company where he held the position of CIO. Albatal holds a master’s degree in computer science from ESIG, Lyon, France.
Currently Research and Development Director at Above Security, Michel-Ange started his career with HP in Böblingen, Germany, as a System Engineer for Medical System Validation and Verification. He worked for Faxmate Inc., Canada, as a Software Designer to develop Fax Systems over IP Networks.
With Above Security since 2003, Michel-Ange Zamor is primarily responsible for overseeing Above Security’s multiple R&D initiatives. He has accumulated over 15 years of experience in IT, including the past 10 years in IT security. As former Principal System Architect, Michel-Ange leading the re-engineering of the company’s information risk management platform, ArkAngel 5.0.
Michel-Ange graduated with a Master’s degree in Software Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering in Germany before continuing his studies in Canada. He holds several certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). He is now pursuing his PhD in System Engineering at Concordia University, Canada, with a focus on Industrial Control Systems.
